Asher Turney is a local resident and graduate of Sparkman High School in
Harvest, Alabama. He is also a graduate of Fisk University and received
his medical doctorate degree from Meharry Medical College (MMC). He
finished his internship at Harvard Medical School at the renowned
Massachusetts General Hospital. He has trained in neurosurgery and
occupational medicine. He completed a masters of business administration
degree at Emory Goizueta Business School. He is currently part of the
MMC Occupational and Preventive Medicine Department in Nashville,
Tennessee.
Currently, he is completing a masters of science in public health at the
MMC public health program in the School of Graduate Studies. He also is
an inaugural health policy scholar in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
Health Policy Institute and a David Winston Health Policy Scholar. He is
committed to improving health disparities and learning how to live
happy and healthy.
